Work and Life Update

I'm thrilled to announce that I've embarked on a new journey by starting my own business, Quinn and Associates. This milestone is the culmination of incredible experiences I've gained throughout my life and career and the remarkable people I've had the privilege to work with and learn from.

When I started as a trainee accountant at Ernst & Young (now EY) in 2000, I never imagined that 24 years later, I would be launching a search consultancy business. My love for recruitment has been a constant source of joy and fulfilment. My career in this field began when Ed Heffernan and Morgan McKinley took a chance on a Chartered Accountant turned Business Development Manager back in 2010. Transitioning from finance to recruitment was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It is a privilege to be involved in people's lives as they make significant career decisions. As my assignments evolved and became more senior, I saw first hand how these decisions impact entire families, teams of employees, and the future of many businesses.

When Ed and Elaine Brady founded Barden in 2014, I was thrilled to join them from the very beginning. I am immensely proud of what we've achieved together over the last decade, working with many fantastic recruiters, a few of whom have become some of my closest friends. The experiences and memories from my time at Barden will always be special to me.

Now, it's time for a new chapter.

In the last few months, I completed my MBA at South East Technological University, an accomplishment I couldn't have achieved without my amazing (and very patient!) supervisor, Tom Egan, my excellent classmates, and everyone at SETU. The lecturers at SETU are fantastic, and I learned more than I ever thought possible from them over the last two years. Special thanks to my children and my parents for their support — the only ones who didn’t think I had lost my mind when I decided to do the MBA back in September 2022!

Additionally, I just returned from an unforgettable Alpine trip where we hiked nearly 100km over 6 days and ascended to 3,019 metres! This adventure was a powerful reminder of the importance of persistence, the beauty of nature, and the value of stepping out of my comfort zone. And just like with the MBA, I had the opportunity to share the experience with some fabulous people, forming lifelong friendships along the way.

Now, it is time to return to the desk and start building a business that I hope will change many lives and add significant value to Irish companies. I'm looking forward to working with old and new clients and candidates in this new venture.

Please feel free to give me a call or reach out to me on LinkedIn or at sandra.quinn@quinnandassociates.ie.

Here's to new beginnings and the journey ahead!
